field day

On the second to last day of school Jaedon had Field Day. I was kind of excited for him because I remember my field days growing up and how fun they were. But his field day was a little different than the ones I had. Ours was more filled with races and competitions that you got prizes for if you won. Jaedon's was just more games and just for fun. No real competition. Which of course is fine, but the competitive side of me was a little disappointed.
Here are some of the games that they played:
Shoe toss/throw
(On this particular turn they told them that they could throw it any way they wanted, and Jaedon threw it backwards over his head.)
Balancing a tennis ball on a spoon. The teacher wanted in on the action, and had a race with Jaedon...Jaedon was paying more attention to the teachers ball, rather than his own.
Not sure what you want to call this game. And this one. But they had to throw a hula hoop in front of them and then jump in the middle of it, and then pick it up and then continue on doing the same thing until they reached the end.Jump rope
And always a favorite, tug of war.

gymnastics open house

Jaedon and Livy had their gymnastics end of year open house. It had an under the sea theme. Jaedon and Livy's performances were at different times, and so Livy was performing with some kids that she had never seen before, and then performing in front of a large audience resulted Livy to look and do this...Yep, still has her fingers in her mouth. She did finally start to loosen up and get into the routine, and did an awesome job. And by the end she was all smiles! Jaedon was next up and of course did an awesome job as well. At the end they all got medals. (Sof was ready for a nap. Can you tell?) I didn't think the pictures did their performances much justice, so here are some little clips of it.

catching up of odds and ends

Instead of trying to post a new post a day until I am caught up, I figured I would just throw it all into one.
A couple of weeks ago Livy came down wearing this hat, and she just looked so cute I had to take a picture...
and of course Jaedon didn't want to be left out.
And just to even things up, here is one of Sof. This one is actually taken with my new lens! More on that later.
For a playgroup we went to an educational farm. Livy wasn't too cooperative with the pictures, or wanting to participate in things.
They got to pet a little baby chick.
2 days last week we were up into the 90's! It was hot. So the kids had some fun while watering the lawn. My favorite is that they had to plug their noses at times to run through it.
So to the new lens. For Mother's Day Jon surprised me with a new lens. A zoom lens to be exact. The current lens that I had was a fixed one, meaning I had to zoom with my feet.
Here it is all the way zoomed out...
and then zoomed in. haha...Jaedon saw the camera and had to pose during the middle of the game.

roller coaster

We are finally getting around to getting some different color around the house. At first we didn't mind that every room in the house was the same, but now I think we are ready for a little bit of change. So I started downstairs with Jaedon room. I asked him if he could have any kind of room that he wanted, what would it be. Can you guess his answer? The kid LOVES roller coasters! So I started to do some searching for roller coaster bedding and roller coaster rooms. Not too much popped up. So I had to figure something out. Here is what we came up with:
"Life is a roller coaster. Enjoy the ride!" My circle is a little off. It was hard to paint straight lines with a bumpy textured wall. Jaedon drew these pictures, and they hang on the opposite wall, at the foot of the bed.
It was hard to find green and yellow fabric together. I didn't want to get new drawer-storage-cubby-thingys, so I made the pillows to help tie in the green.
Jaedon loves it! And that is all that matters. He even slept down there all by himself last night. Love the kid and his obsession with roller coasters.

dooby dooby moo

This past Tuesday Jaedon had a Kindergarten Concert. It was based off of the book Dooby Dooby Moo. All the classes dressed up as different animals in the books. One was cows, sheep, pigs (which was Jaedon's class), and then farmers.
Jaedon didn't want to wear pink, so red was another option. As you can see, some parents got really into it. I just wasn't up for it.

baseball

As stated in previous posts, Jaedon started his T-ball league. It is pretty laid back. Parents can go out on the field with the kids if they want and help the kids play. You only move one base at a time, and everyone gets to bat. So, no outs. Jaedon is on the older end of the team and so he does pretty well compared to some of the other kids.I liked this picture because you can see the 2 kids in the outfield fighting over the ball that Jaedon just hit.
This one cracks me up as well. On the last batter, who ever is on base they of course run the rest of the bases. Well, Jaedon was on his way home instead to 3rd. Maybe it is due to the 3rd base coach. ;) Just kidding Sweets, I love you! They play him at first base quite a bit too since he is one of the few that can catch a ball most of the time.
And can throw it back to the home plate to the coach.
