gotta love it

This post is just of some random things, but I thought the pictures were too cute to pass up.

We have really cracked down on Jaedon about dressing up in Livy's dress-ups. So the other day he decided to dress up Livy instead, and then he brought Livy out to show me.
When taking pictures of Livy it is hard to get her to smile FOR the picture. As soon as you are done taking it though, she will give you the biggest smile. She got these new PJ's and had just woken up too, but she was all smiles while taking this picture. And here is a sneak peak of some pictures I took for Sofia's birth announcement. Jaedon and Livy were feeling a little left out I guess and had to have their own turn.
And I still get a little chuckle of how alike Jaedon and Sofia look as babies.

sofia's blessing

Yesterday we blessed our little Sofia at 16 days old. Jaedon and Livy were blessed around 2 months, so this was quite a change for me. But Jon's family was in town, and so his Dad and brother were able to participate.
It was a wonderful day, and a wonderful blessing.

gone fishin'

We took a little trip to the duck pond the other day to let Jaedon try out his new pole. He kept asking Jon over and over again if he could go fishing. We don't have a hook and all that other jazz for fishing quite yet, but there is a little heavy plastic guy attached to the end of the line that makes it so you can cast the line out. So that is as close as we got to fishing. Jaedon was a little disappointed the first time he reeled the line back in and there was no fish. So we had to explain. But he loved it and is actually getting quite good at casting it out. Doing what fisherman do best... And here are some random pics of the kids

4 years

Today was our little buddy's 4th birthday. I guess he is not little anymore, but still our buddy. He has been so excited for this birthday and couldn't wait for all that awaited for the day. We started the morning out with opening his gifts. Me being the mean mom, made him wait until I was dressed and ready for the day, and also he had to wait until Livy woke up as well.

We then headed off to Hershey Park. Jaedon's most favorite place in the world. I didn't get any pictures though of him on the rides. But I did manage to get one of Sofia and Livy. Sofia and Jaedon's birthday will be exactly one week apart.
We then got rained out at Hershey Park, so the trip was cut short by a couple of hours than what we had planned for.
Later this evening though we had some friends over and had some cake and ice cream. I feel kind of bad though, because I really debated on doing a party, but this was as close of a party as I could get around to this year.
If you look close enough, you will be able to tell that Livy REALLY enjoyed her cupcake!

Happy Birthday Jaedon! We love you and can't believe you are all ready 4! You are such a joy and a blessing in our lives. You are such a good big brother to your sisters. And I love it when out of the blue you will say, "Mom..., I love you." We love you too!

finally...

Well, the morning started out good. We were able to go into the hospital at 6AM. BUT..., I am GBS+ so they had to get in 2 doses of antibiotics before they started anything, because they were too afraid that I would go too fast. I was all ready dilated to a 4 when we arrived and being my 3rd, and considering my other 2 weren't that long either, I don't blame them. But if we wouldn't have had to wait for the antibiotics, we could have had her in no time. So finally at 1130 they came and broke my water. And OH MOTHER was there A LOT in there. It was pretty comical actually. It went clear up my back, off both sides of the bed and there was a waterfall that occurred making a HUGE lake on the floor. The responses of the residents I think is what made it so comical mainly. I did warn them though! :) I then got my epidural and again, like with when I had Livy, it wasn't working. I was still feeling the contractions and they were getting harder and harder, and I was starting to feel pressure down there. I asked Jon many times to make sure there wasn't a head hanging out down there. They finally gave me a bolus and I became numb. We could have had the baby probably around 2pm, but they were starting to deliver, well actually just push with the lady next door. And it t-o-o-k f-o-r-e-v-e-r! Finally it was our turn and I pushed four times and the baby was out! We had her at 3:06PM, she weighed 9 pounds 7 ounces, and was 20 and 3/4 inches long! We stuck with Sofia Lorraine, and she is the cutest thing!

Sofia Lorraine Bassett
Jaedon and Livy were SO excited to come and see their baby sister! We are now a family of 5! Kind of weird to think of.Jaedon is such a good big brother. He always wanted to hold her, and he actually did really well with her.And of course Livy had to hold her if Jaedon held her!Arriving home...

good news!!

I had my last doctor's appointment today! I went in for the Non-Stress Test (NST), and when I gave them my wonderful sample, :) it turned out that I had +1 protein in my urine and my blood pressure was high. (But I think it was just the nurse that was taking the blood pressure that was struggling with getting the numbers) Which are some signs for pre-eclampsia. Of course the baby was in sleep mode like always for the NST, so at first she wasn't responding and failing the test, but after some ice water she woke up and was fine. The doctor came in and checked me and everything looked good and I had progressed. So I at least qualified for induction now. She was concerned about the BP and said that the only way to solve it or correct it, is to get the baby out. She was going to send me over to the hospital right then, but then looked at the floor status, and there were no rooms available. So, I got some lab work done, and we will be going in tomorrow for induction at 6AM!! I really thought that maybe she was going to come today, because last night I was having some MAJOR contractions. I just kept saying to myself that this better be the real deal or I am going to cry. Sure enough, 5AM rolled around and they stopped. I was pretty frustrated! She is just too comfy in there I guess. So when I got the news of induction I was quite thrilled. But I think it works out better this way, because my mom and sister are coming into town tonight. So now we won't have to worry about finding someone to babysit. So stay tuned! :)

patience...

Did I mention that it is not one of my qualities!? I seriously lack it. And this baby is definitely trying it! I am SO ready to be done!! Why can't the baby be on the same page as me!!?

more 4th festivities

We started out the day by cleaning our cars! Which the kids liked though, because they watched a movie while Jon was washing the van, and then we went and played games on the grass.

Later than evening we had some good food with lots of friends! And I had to make the jigglers somewhat festive. :)
We then headed over to the Med Center to listen to the symphony and get some free ice cream and drinks!
Dancing around on the blanket to the symphony's music
They then had fireworks at Hershey Park which the kids stayed up very late to watch. We made them take naps though so they wouldn't be so ornery. They loved them even though they were far away and we could only see the tops of them from our apartment. Also there were some buildings in the way that didn't help either. This morning though Jaedon was asking for more fireworks!

Happy Independence Day

Our festivities for the 4th started yesterday after Jon finished his last test of his 3rd year of medical school!! We are officially now in our last year of medical school! We decided to go miniature golfing. We drove by a golf course a while back and Jaedon saw some young boys out playing, and said that he wanted to go golfing too. So we thought that maybe we would try it out and see how it went. Jaedon did really well, and even beat Jon and I on some of the holes. We can't remember for sure, but we think that on one of the holes he even got a hole-in-one. Liv just liked holding her ball and club, and would hit it once and a while.

Jaedon was always so excited when he got it into the hole
They loved this castle
Then afterwards we went and played on a little train that they had near by
Then that evening we went to Hershey Park, and Jaedon rode on a BIG roller coaster that went upside down. He wasn't too sure about it. And of course when it was time to go home, they didn't want to go!
Today will be spent just relaxing and having a BBQ with friends.
Still no baby, and I was told at the last appointment that now I can't be induced because I have not made any progress and still too high. After all the disappointment, it is probably a good thing though since Jon will be gone all day Monday at a test. But after that she better make some serious progress! :)
