a conversation this morning...

Jaedon: (out of the blue) I wanna go on a misson. Me: Oh yeah!? Well, you will have to wait until you turn 19. Jaedon: No! I wanna go on a misson now. Me: Well, where do you want to go on a mission? Jaedon: To nursey. I wanna go on a misson to nursey...at church. Me: Okay, we will have to wait until Sunday then. :) Watch out Nursery Leaders!

a trip worth taking

We made it back from our Utah/Idaho trip. It was quite the packed week for us. Jon was unable to make it, due to doing his rotations for his 3rd year. To start the trip off our flight was delayed an hour. So we didn't get in until really late. Which when we got to my Grandma Shaw's house, I locked the keys in my mom's car, which she does not have a spare for. Sunday, my Uncle Kevin bailed me out and was able to work some magic and unlock the car. Then off to my cousin Marc's homecoming. I got to see alot of my extended family that I haven't seen for quite some time and really enjoyed catching up on things. Jaedon decided though that he would get sick and spike a fever during sacrament time though. Then we went to Nate and Rachel's where we had a little cupcake birthday party for all the "July" birthday boys. Monday we went to the wedding social at Jessica's parents house. It turned out beautifully. And I was able to see and talk with my cousin Boone and his wife Lori. Which was a TOTAL surprise! Tuesday was the wedding. On the way down to Salt Lake Jaedon fell asleep in the car and I forgot to make him go to the bathroom before we left, and so yes, he went everywhere and was majorly soaked! Then when we got to the temple, Jon's parents were there to watch Jaedon and Livy, but neither one wanted me to leave. So there was some crying and screaming that occured there. When we came out of the temple the sun was shining, but then it decided to down pour. But by the time Mac and Jess came out it had cleared and was beautiful. Jaedon was being quite the 3 year old and did not want to come and get pictures taken. He doesn't like big crowds and being put on the spot. Remind you of anyone! ;) After the wedding we stayed in Salt Lake and then went to Park City the next morning, and then stayed there in Park City for a night. That night though Livy didn't want to let Jaedon show her up so she decided to spike a fever and get an ear infection. So come Friday, I had intentions on going to see some friends in Logan, but I was so tired from everything, that I just vegged. Thank you Mom and Dad for all you did while we were there, for housing us and feeding us. We enjoyed seeing everyone and getting caught up on what has been happening in everyone else's lives outside of Hershey. :)

Jaedon is 3!!

Jaedon turned 3 on July 17th, and I can not believe he is all ready 3!! We started the day off by opening his presents, and he was SO excited. So pretty much the rest of the day was spent playing with all of them! We watched the BEE Movie a couple times. Read "I ain't gonna paint no more" multiple of times! Would attempt to ride his bike, (but he is getting very good at it now.) And then play with his train! When I asked him what his most favorite present was, it was always "choo choo train". That night we went to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese. (Other than Hershey Park, that is Jaedon's most favorite place to go.) Then today we had a party with some of Jaedon's friends. The theme was Spider Man, because Jaedon wanted a Spider Man cake. After everyone had left, Jaedon told me, "I have fun with my brenz!"

What are your memories?

So my sister-in-law, Rachel (Nate's wife), did this on her blog, and I kind of hesitated to do it. (I am afraid of what people may say...or don't have to say!) Either way, I decided to just go ahead and do it. So here it is: Memories 1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! 2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Gotta love this kid!

We went to Hershey Park a couple of weeks ago, (which is becoming our ritual Saturday activity). And Jon was on FIRE at winning prizes. He went and played the softball one that is only one dollar, (which is why he loves to play it!), but first throw, all the blocks fell off which meant we get the BIG prize, a dog. And of course Jaedon picked the "pink" one. Then we went and had our try at the BIG claw. We have been trying since last year to get one of these Reese's guy. Well, like I said Jon was on fire, and we got one. Jaedon has loved it, because he is quite the chocolate fan. But I was sitting at the computer doing my morning blog check and Jaedon was being really quiet, so I turned to see what he was doing and this is what I saw... on top of the couch, curled up, on top of "chocolate". Moments like this make me love being a mom and having kids! Priceless!!

Another trip to Utah!

And this is the reason why... My little brother MacArthur, but everyone pretty much knows him as Mac, is getting married July 22, 2008. Yes this is the same brother that I went out to Utah earlier this year for. He got home from his mission in May, and actually Jessica got home from her mission at the same time. They were high school sweet hearts, and everything obviously worked out after the mission. Congratulations you guys, and can't wait to see you all.

Let the training begin!!!

Jon's sister, Liz, called a couple of weeks ago and wanted us to do a triathlon with her in October in Virginia. My first thoughts were, "Are you kidding me!? Yeah, right!" But now it has consumed my thoughts, and of course I have agreed to do it. I have been pretty athletic all my life, but I have never done anything like this in my life! And of course haven't been as active. So if anyone has any suggestions, pointers, help, they are all more than welcome. Oh, and by the way, it is just a sprint triathlon, so not quite as bad, but still going to be grueling.

Happy 4th of July

To celebrate the 4th of July we thought we would hit up the water park at Hershey park, but it was overcast, and had been raining all morning, but we thought 'what the heck, we will give it a try!' Well, it was freezing for the little kiddos. Jaedon's poor little lips and a good portion around his mouth was bright purple, but every time we would ask him if he wanted to go because it was too cold he said no. So, finally after hypothermia set in we talked him in to leaving and coming back later and we could ride on the "bumpy" roller coaster.

We then went to the Med Center and the Hershey Symphony played in the rain. We got some free ice cream and drinks. Which Jaedon of course loved!

Towards the end they played a tribute to each service man, Army, Marines, Air Force, etc. They were told to stand up when their song came on, but of course Jon didn't because he doesn't like the attention. (what a pair we make, because I wouldn't have stood up either), but I was really trying to get him too. So this is the Air Force fight song...

We sure enjoyed our 4th and are grateful for the freedoms that we have and can enjoy.

More summer fun!!

Yesterday we mostly cleaned and recovered from our trip to Assateague, but don't think that would stop us from hitting up a Baltimore Orioles game. Jon loves the summer, just so that we can go to some baseball games. And Jaedon really likes them as well. This was Livy's first time of going to one though, and she did really well, as long as she had something in her hands to play with and chew on. Riding the "train" (light rail), to the game. Taking in some of the game. 'I live for this' Jon really wanted to get our picture from our seats with the field in the background, but we saw this playground and Jaedon really wanted to go and play there, so we missed our opportunity of getting it at our seats, but down by the playground area they had a big mural, so we opted for that photo moment instead. Having a good time! Jaedon playing around at the playground.

They had this big bouncy gym thing, and Jaedon was having a blast in it. Oh, and all of this was free. They even had this fast pitch thing that the kids could be the pitcher. I tried getting a picture of Jaedon throwing it, but he threw one ball and was done. But back to this bouncy thing. They would only allow so many kids in at a time, and so when it was Jaedon's turn to get out, he was not budging!! Of course he threw the fit, I tried threatening him to get him out and nothing. Finally Jon had to crawl through the little opening and literally drag him out of there. He put on quite the show. I wish I would have kept recording though and had gotten the whole fit he was throwing.

Assateague Island

We took a little trip to Assateague Island for this first part of the week. We left on Monday and came back Wednesday. It was really fun, and quite the adventure. When first arriving we were told over and over, to not leave any food out, or else the wild horses (more like ponies) would eat it, and also not to leave it in your tent even, or else they will try busting through your tent to get the food. Jaedon loved going to the beach, and running from the waves. We flew kites, looked for sea shells, played in the sand, played in the ocean, saw some weird looking jelly fish, saw some ghost crabs, and some kind of weird crab kind of thing that dug into the sand, some little bitty clams that would come to the top with each wave and then dig back down when the wave was gone. It was so fun that Jaedon didn't want to leave!
