sofia

Sofia's little personality comes shining through more and more each day. The kids love to jump off of the stairs, and of course Sof has to join in. She mostly will jump from the 3rd step, but had ventured up to the 4th step. She barely would clear the bottom step. Kind of scary. But by the time I got the camera out, she had chickened out of jumping from the 4th.

Then last night during Family Home Evening, we were all gathering and getting ready to start and Jaedon was supposed to pick someone for the song. We weren't really paying attention to Sof, but as we all started watching her and figuring out what it was she was saying, she was singing a song, and she just kept going on and on with it.

sizzlin' 6

Six years ago, and even on a Sunday, I gave birth to this cute little guy. Boy how our lives changed after that. :)
Last night, well I guess early this morning at 3:30, I woke up to go to the bathroom, and it hit me that 6 years ago I woke up hurting right about this time. Then I couldn't go back to sleep because then I just kept thinking about the labor process that went down with Jaedon. Loved it, and love him even more. Here is the big 6 year old!
Yesterday he had a little party with some of his friends. Can you guess what the theme was!?
Roller coasters, of course.
So we played some carnival games.
Some of them were:
Fishing
Ring toss and can throw
(Pretty much everything was done inside because the weather is so blasted hot!)
Then onto cake and ice cream! I got a good chuckle of how hard he was trying to get those little flames out.
I forgot to mention with Sofia's birthday, that for all of the kids birthday's we combined and got them a little playground. And I am showing these last just because I love the excitement and pure joy and happiness on his face.
(Sofia kidnapped the whale and did not want to give it back)
Happy Birthday buddy! We love you and you are the best big brother anyone could ever ask for. You have such love and determination for things. And a very good example to your sisters.

Sofia is 2!

I had good intentions of getting this post done yesterday on her actual birthday, but it just didn't happen. But our cute little Sofia turned 2 yesterday.
My camera battery died while taking pictures of her opening her presents, and then I hadn't charged my backup one either. This girl L-O-V-E-S babies! So of course she had a baby birthday cake. hahaha...she was giving a good "cheese"
She wasn't quite sure what to do with the candles
Still not really getting it
So Dad and Jaedon had to help
Some wonderful things about Sof is that she obviously loves babies. I think she will be a great sister for her soon to be little brother (and maybe too much help). And she is a great sister to her older siblings as well. She also really loves doggies. Doggy was her first word. Her favorite thing to eat is hot dogs, AND gum. The girl is always getting into my purse, the drawers, or the cupboards looking for some. It wouldn't be so bad that she has such a love for gum if she wouldn't swallow it when she was done chewing it. She also has a love for shoes. She is always trying on someones shoes whether it is Dad's, mom's, Jaedon's, Livy's or her own. If they are out there, she will sample them. We love our little Sof and couldn't imagine life without her.

annual trip

So this is going to be a monster post. I just haven't had the energy yet to get around to posting things from our trip out to Idaho/Utah to see family, but figured I better post something before it gets too late.
Jon was able to come out with us for a couple of days, which was really nice. Here are some of the things we did while out there, and lots more that I was just too lazy to get the camera for.
Aunt Caitlin gave us pedicures.
Lots of time spent on the tramp. Lots of time not being afraid of the dogs.
hot tubbin The best part... being able to go and visit with Grandma and Grandpa Shaw.
We went to the Logan Aquatic Center one day. And I deserve the Mother-of-the-Year Award. All the kids got fried! I did apply sunscreen, but needed to re-apply apparently. I felt horrible for the next couple of days every time I would look at them.
Then one day was spent at my cousins wedding where I got to see lots of family that I haven't seen for quite some time. It was great. And I got to spend more time with these two wonderful people.
Sof got to hold real babies. She was in heaven.
Like I said before there was lots of other things we did, but I just wasn't motivated enough to go and get my camera. But we had a wonderful time and was so glad to see everyone. And a big THANK YOU to our parents for letting us stay.

toothless

Jaedon has had a wiggly tooth for quite some time now, and it was finally to the stage of falling out. The other day as we were reading scriptures it was almost sticking out horizontally, so Jon got some floss and tried to work the tooth out. We didn't have much luck that night. But then yesterday evening Jaedon was playing with it some more and it was turned sideways this time. So I had Jaedon get me some tissue and gave a little tug on it and out it came. The kid was SO excited to have a missing tooth and to have the tooth fairy come that night.
As we were all sitting in the Family Room Jaedon was sitting on the rocker just grinning from ear to ear and then said, "I think I look even cuter now."
We all just busted up laughing.

field day

On the second to last day of school Jaedon had Field Day. I was kind of excited for him because I remember my field days growing up and how fun they were. But his field day was a little different than the ones I had. Ours was more filled with races and competitions that you got prizes for if you won. Jaedon's was just more games and just for fun. No real competition. Which of course is fine, but the competitive side of me was a little disappointed.
Here are some of the games that they played:
Shoe toss/throw
(On this particular turn they told them that they could throw it any way they wanted, and Jaedon threw it backwards over his head.)
Balancing a tennis ball on a spoon. The teacher wanted in on the action, and had a race with Jaedon...Jaedon was paying more attention to the teachers ball, rather than his own.
Not sure what you want to call this game. And this one. But they had to throw a hula hoop in front of them and then jump in the middle of it, and then pick it up and then continue on doing the same thing until they reached the end.Jump rope
And always a favorite, tug of war.

gymnastics open house

Jaedon and Livy had their gymnastics end of year open house. It had an under the sea theme. Jaedon and Livy's performances were at different times, and so Livy was performing with some kids that she had never seen before, and then performing in front of a large audience resulted Livy to look and do this...Yep, still has her fingers in her mouth. She did finally start to loosen up and get into the routine, and did an awesome job. And by the end she was all smiles! Jaedon was next up and of course did an awesome job as well. At the end they all got medals. (Sof was ready for a nap. Can you tell?) I didn't think the pictures did their performances much justice, so here are some little clips of it.
