mullet festival

I know what you are thinking. "Is this a festival where a bunch of rednecks walk around with mullets!?"
No. But I thought the same thing when I heard about the festival. Apparently it is a type of fish.
And like any festival it is packed full of rides, games, and food. We got to try "gator-on-a-stick". The bite I took didn't have too much meat, and so it just tasted a lot like fried foods. Jon said it did have a different taste, and it wasn't too bad.
We let the kids pick 2 rides, and this one Livy wanted to go on and talked Jaedon into going with her. When they got off, I guess Livy was joking around the whole time that she was going to throw up. If I would have gone on it, I wouldn't have been joking about throwing up.
Sofia chose a simple, easy going ride.
Then Jaedon wanted to try his hand on the baseball throw. Well, let's just say that some tears were shed that he didn't win a prize. Which we then told him how they are rigged so you will not win and spend lots of money trying. :)

run for fundz

I don't care for fundraisers much. But I did like that at the kids school it was for something that they actually do instead of buying something out of a catalog. And so they get the whole amount of money donated instead of a portion of something that you are paying for.
It was a very fun atmosphere. They call out their class name and let them run out to the field.
At first all the kids were running and then I had to leave for a little bit to go and pick up Sofia from preschool. When I came back, they were all pretty much walking.
I missed most of Jaedon's because Jack had a Speech appointment. When I showed up Jaedon was all ready done with all of his laps that they let them get. He was cheering everyone else on.
Livy, was really getting into the music.

thirty-three

Say what!? Am I really getting that old! Yes. Yes I am. This year for a birthday present I decided I needed a camera that wasn't SO big and bulky. Something I could hide in my pocket if needed. So that is what the family got me.
Here we have Sofia the photographer getting up close and personal. Whoa!
Of course Jon never disappoints on my birthday. This year we made a pumpkin and chocolate cheesecake. I shouldn't say we, because Jon really did do it all.
It was a definite keeper. Even Jon liked it, and he isn't a pumpkin fan.
Then for the festivities we headed to a mall that has a carousel in it, and on Tuesday nights it is free! I thought it would be kind of crowded, but it wasn't too bad and the kids just kept getting off and getting right back on.

backyard campout

Last Friday, Jon, the awesome dad that he is, brought up to the kids that we should go camping..., in the backyard! Of course the kids loved the idea, and were excited for days. Sofia kept calling it our "vacation".
These pictures are not the best quality, but there are little parts of each of them that I just love.
Jon and I got this fire pit for our anniversary. We weren't sure if it was a smart buy, but it has turned out to be awesome and the kids love having fires and roasting hot dogs and s'mores. Jaedon is our pyro child, and loves to keep the fire going with the pine needles.
 Love these goof balls!
Then only in Florida, well other places too, we went to the beach in wonderful 80 degree weather. Played in the sand and played with a crab. And even came home with some sunburns. By the time the weekend was over though, we were all exhausted.

Livy's six

Saturday we celebrated our sweet Livy girl's sixth birthday.
All she wanted was American Girl Doll (Our Generation-Target) clothes and accessories. But I guess she did want this electronic password Journal. Which has definitely been worth the money.
She wanted to decorate her own cake this year. And she went to town! She wanted to go to the beach for her birthday, but it was a down pour all day long. So she decided to make a beach cake.
She has her boardwalk, the fish in the sea, sea shells and rocks, and fruit snack people.
She is growing up becoming such a beautiful young girl. She loves her family and can't wait to be a mom! Which also makes her a very good helper. Love this girl and so glad that she is a part of our lives.

2 years old

Yesterday we celebrated Jack's 2nd birthday.
He loves bubbles and so we got him a bubble machine gun. (Which doesn't work very well). But he still loved it.
Another thing he has loved is lawnmowers.
When we were out to Utah for the summer he would not put them down. And he would always fight over our neighbors one as well. So now he has his very own and has been using it like a pro.
I know these pictures are blurry, but the kid did not want to smile too much for the camera. So these are the only ones I was able to capture on camera.
I wasn't sure what to do for his cake and was asking Jon what he thought I should do. He suggested minion cupcakes. So minion cupcakes it was!

 And they were quite yummy.
Love this little dude, and can't believe how fast they grow up.

sofia starts preschool

This little sassy mama started preschool today. She was beyond excited!! When we went to orientation yesterday all of the other kids were shy and timid around the teachers, and Sofia was just grinning ear to ear.
This morning when I dropped her off she just jumped right out of the car and was ready to go! No looking back, until the teacher made her turn around and say goodbye.
When I picked her up she was still grinning ear to ear. Love our little Sofi-bops.
I don't think Jack knew what to do with himself. It was pretty quiet around the house.
